Dear Friends,
Advent opened the doors to it…..
The light of Christmas helped us to see that it is here…
The journey of Lent and Easter will help us to act on it…
It is MERCY.
Both our universal and particular church community has been challenged by Pope Francis and we here at Holy Family are taking that challenge very seriously… to put MERCY into action. Almost all of our ministries and programs have been infused with the call to turn ideas of MERCY into encounters. We are continuing to encourage our community to extend MERCY through both prayer and action.
There are many ways to look at and define MERCY and various ways to carry it out. One definition of MERCY that I would like to share is from James Keenan, a Jesuit. He says that MERCY is…..”a willingness to enter into the chaos of others.” Jack Shea, a theologian and friend of Holy Family emphasizes that if we allow ourselves to receive MERCY we will more freely share it.
At the bottom of this page you will find information about deeply spiritual activities, programs and liturgies that are designed to enrich your MERCY filled faith journey of Lent and Easter. I encourage you to share these opportunities with others. Holy Family is a vibrant, passionate and life giving community. The joy of the new life of Christ is especially manifest at Easter and that joy is meant to be celebrated and shared.
We look forward to being an ambassador of Mercy with you.
In God’s MERCY I remain Yours Sincerely,
Fr. Terry Keehan
