Holy Family Community joins March Against Violence in Chicago

About 20 people from Holy Family attended the Call to Action on Saturday, December 31 in response to more than 750 deaths and over 4,000 shootings in the year 2016 in Chicago. Wooden crosses bearing the name of the individual killed with the date and age were walked down Michigan Avenue to bring attention to the magnitude of the loss of life by guns.

“We felt our voices had to join with those who had suffered a terrible loss to violence in our own area. The line of crosses stretched for over a block and many people who stopped to watch us as we marched down this busy street. The march dramatically showed the scale of this ongoing tragedy.”

Sue Geegan, Director of Human Concerns
