Varieties of Prayer
Guest Speaker: Fr. William Meninger
Saturday, September 27, 2008, 9:00am-1:00pm

Join us as Fr. Meninger returns for his third visit to Holy Family Catholic Community to present a workshop on the many different ways to engage in prayer. Fr. William Meninger is a Trappist monk of St. Benedict's Monastery in Snowmass, Colorado. With Thomas Keating and Basil Pennington, he is one of the founders of the Centering
Prayer movement. He is an international lecturer and retreat master and has published books and articles on scripture, centering prayer and forgiveness.

Fr. Meninger will talk about:

  • Prayer as a personal relationship with God, private or liturgical
  • Prayer as a dialogue with God - seen especially in the scriptures
  • Prayer ascends from: reading (lectio), to meditation (meditatio), to affection (oratio), to contemplation (contemplatio).
  • The psalms as a special form of prayer.

Fee: $12, Contact Judy and Ken Guilette, 847-382-6177, kguilette@hotmail.com or Dee at, 847-907-3441.
